Product photo
How do you remove the background from a product photo?
A product shot with a bedroom, a tablecloth or a wall shadow sells the room, not the item. The free tool returns a transparent PNG at the same resolution as the upload, ready for a white plate, a store scene or an ad.
How to do it in three steps
The cutout lives in the browser. Do not install an editor and do not shrink the item just to fit a canvas. The right photo isolates the object: light in front, a simple backdrop, the whole piece in frame — handle, sole, label and the object's own shadow.
- Open the background remover and drop a PNG, JPEG or WebP of the piece. The file must fit in 8 MB; if the camera wrote a huge file, compress it without cropping the useful area of the product.
- Wait for the cutout. Time depends on image size and load that day; the page does not promise a fixed clock. The result is a transparent PNG at full resolution, not a thumbnail.
- Download the PNG and use it in the catalogue, the ad or the white plate of the storefront. If the cutout failed on a handle, mannequin hair or glass, change the photo: contrast between product and backdrop helps more than any later tweak.
What to expect: formats, size and time
The free page accepts PNG, JPEG and WebP up to 8 MB. Other formats and larger files are rejected in the browser, before upload. The download is a transparent PNG with the same dimensions as the source: the free result is not downscaled.
There is a daily allowance without an account. When it runs out, the page asks you to sign up. On busy days the engine answers busy and the page retries once; there is no published wait time because it depends on load and file size. Glass, fine hair, real product transparency and a shadow glued to the backdrop are the cases where the cutout usually needs another photo, not another tool.
When to use the paid API
One catalogue photo fits the free page. Dozens of SKUs, a shoot folder or a production line need the API: you send the image, receive the PNG and write it into your flow. Account and key live on products and pricing; the free page does not charge and does not publish a payment link.
Use the API when the cutout must enter the product record, the storefront resize step or a night batch. While you are still choosing the angle of the piece, the free tool is enough. See the catalogue at /products and the table at /pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Does the product photo need a white background before the cutout?
No. A simple backdrop and contrast with the item help. The cutout returns a transparent PNG; you apply the white plate later, in the ad or the listing.
Is the free PNG a smaller resolution?
No. The tool returns the same dimensions as the upload. Full resolution is the rule on this page, not a paid extra.
Can I cut several items at once on this page?
No. The free page handles one image at a time. Folders, lots and automatic catalogue writes go to the API with an account.
Which format should the store receive?
PNG with a transparent background. JPEG does not keep transparency. Transparent WebP exists, but the download from this page is PNG.
